SBF receives the “Via Oeconomica” business prize for its long-standing commitment and innovative strength.
As part of the festive anniversary gala of the Leipzig Business Prize “Via Oeconomica”, SBF Spezialleuchten GmbH was awarded the prize in the category “Leipzig stays! “excellent. The award ceremony took place on November 13, 2024 in the historic ballroom of the Old Town Hall in Leipzig.
The renowned business prize was awarded for the tenth time by the association “Together for Leipzig e.V.” together with City of Leipzig awarded. The aim of the award is to recognize companies that particularly shape Leipzig through economic and social commitment.
More than 200 invited guests from politics and business took part in the event. Following greetings from Mayor Burkhard Jung and Dr. Mathias Reuschel, a keynote speech by Matthias Berger opened the evening. Kamilla Senjo led through the awards ceremony, musically accompanied by singer Alina Folz.
The origins of the company date back to 1862. Founded as a Saxon Bronzeware Factory, the company quickly established itself in the area of technical lighting — including by equipping the Semperoper in Dresden, luxurious yachts and the Transrapid.
Since 1968, SBF has focused on ceiling and lighting systems for rail vehicles. In 2007, the company produced LED train lighting in series for the first time — a milestone in the industry.
Today, the company is part of SBF AG. Research, development and production continue to take place entirely at the Leipzig location. The group is supplemented by the affiliated companies Hellux GmbH and Lunux Lighting GmbH — also based in Leipzig.
The award at Via Oeconomica underlines SBF's important role as an innovative employer and industrial partner with strong roots in the region.
